5/8 — Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla
These are the three I got the most absorbed in. I love the earlier games, but Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla are the ones I put the most time into. The worlds, the exploration, and how much there is to get involved in made this stretch special to me.
Origins — October 27, 2017
Bayek and Aya’s personal tragedy takes them through ancient Egypt and eventually leads to the formation of the Hidden Ones. This gives us the beginnings of the organization that becomes the Assassin Brotherhood. It also introduces Layla Hassan in the present.
Odyssey — October 5, 2018
Kassandra or Alexios travels through Greece during the Peloponnesian War, dealing with a broken family, the Cult of Kosmos, and the Isu’s legacy. Historically, this happens before Origins and before the Hidden Ones exist. Layla’s modern story carries forward even while the memories take us further backward.
Valhalla — November 10, 2020
Eivor leaves Norway for England, building a settlement and alliances while becoming involved with the Hidden Ones and the Order of the Ancients. Odin, Basim, and the Isu become major parts of the story. It also brings Layla’s main arc to its conclusion and changes the present-day story again.
That’s one of the things I like about looking at the series this way. The historical settings keep moving around, but the connections between the games continue building.
