I just finished Wonderland, all 50 issues and the finale. There's a lot to talk about in that last stretch, especially issues 40 through 50. I've already talked about the Hatters, the different roles in Wonderland, and Calie wanting to get back. Looking at all of it together, though, so much comes down to what Calie, Violet, and Cheshire have become to each other. Calie spends years trying to keep Wonderland away from her family. Then she becomes the White Queen and takes responsibility for the place. Getting thrown back onto Earth doesn't erase that responsibility, and it sure doesn't stop Wonderland from following them. Meanwhile, Violet is fighting over who she gets to be, and Cheshire is choosing to protect this family even when other Cheshires see his loyalty as a betrayal. All three have their own connection to Wonderland. Those connections don't always pull them in the same direction. Then you get to the finale, and Calie's demand is so personal: save Violet and leave them in peace. After all the fighting over Wonderland, that's what she's asking for. That's where I want to come back to this whole stretch. Calie has people in Wonderland she cares about, but she also has a daughter who has already been through hell because of it. How much more is she supposed to give the place?
