ANDROMEDA: SOLDIER, ADEPT, AND ENGINEER SOLDIER Pros: Bonuses to weapon damage, accuracy, magazine size, and damage resistance. Marksman's Focus rewards successive kills with increased damage. If you are building around shooting, those bonuses support what you are already doing. Cons: The kill-streak benefit contributes less when you are dealing with one isolated tough target. The profile does not give the biotic or tech specialization bonuses of those other profiles. You can still equip those powers, but this profile is primarily rewarding your gunplay. Choose it if your main plan is to keep shooting and use powers as support. Unlike ME2, choosing Soldier is not necessary to carry an assault rifle. ADEPT Pros: Bonuses to biotic force, area effects, duration, and biotic combo radius. Biotic Echoes can create additional explosions when your biotic combos hit enemies. It suits a build that groups enemies, controls them when possible, and follows with detonations. Cons: Protected enemies still require appropriate tools; the profile does not make every target liftable. You also get less benefit from its specialized bonuses when most of your damage comes from weapons or tech. The three-active-skill limit means you need a coherent setup instead of equipping every biotic at once. Choose it if biotic crowd control and area damage are the main point of your build. Add an appropriate weapon or a tech skill if your chosen powers leave a defense type awkward to handle. ENGINEER Pros: Combo bonuses and improvements to tech constructs make it useful for builds using abilities such as Assault Turret or the unlockable Remnant VI. Its passive Combat Drone assists your tech recharge and can release an EMP when enemies get close. That profile drone is distinct from the skills you choose for your active slots. Cons: Construct bonuses do little for a build that never uses constructs. The drone's recharge assistance is lost when it self-destructs, so getting crowded has a cost. You still need to choose useful active skills rather than expecting the profile to supply a whole attack rotation by itself. Choose it if you want tech powers, combos, and deployables to carry much of the fight. It is a natural fit for a tech-focused Ryder, not a restriction that prevents anybody else from using tech.
