MASS EFFECT 3: SENTINEL, INFILTRATOR, AND VANGUARD SENTINEL Pros: Overload, Warp, and Throw give you coverage against different defenses and a way to set up your own biotic explosions. Tech Armor adds damage reduction. With unrestricted weapon categories, the class can support either a durable gunfighter or a more power-focused approach. Cons: Tech Armor is not working the way it did in ME2. It stays active when your shields break, detonates manually, and slows power recharge while active. You are balancing protection, weapon weight, and casting speed. Do not expect the old automatic shield-break explosion to rescue you. Choose Sentinel if you want broad tools and room to adjust how durable or power-heavy your Shepard feels. Its versatility is the attraction, not a promise that every build has no tradeoffs. INFILTRATOR Pros: Tactical Cloak still creates strong opening attacks and opportunities to reposition. You retain sniper support, Incinerate, ammo powers, and Sabotage, but you are no longer restricted to the ME2 weapon categories. A close-range shotgun approach is a real option. Cloak also recharges according to how long it was active, rewarding well-timed attacks. Cons: Precision, positioning, and cloak timing still matter. A long cloak or a poorly timed power can leave you exposed afterward. If you build entirely around a slow, hard-hitting rifle, groups of enemies closing in can force you away from that preferred rhythm. Choose Infiltrator if you like controlling when an engagement starts and making your opening attack count. The sniper build is the obvious fit, not the only fit. VANGUARD Pros: Biotic Charge and Nova form a powerful close-range loop. Charge restores your barrier; Nova spends barrier energy on an area blast. Nova uses that resource rather than a normal recharge timer, so keeping Charge available is especially valuable. A light loadout supports that rhythm, and both powers can contribute to combos on appropriately primed targets. Cons: Spending your barrier has consequences if you cannot charge again or reach a safe position. Enemy grabs, dangerous close-range attacks, and bad target selection still matter. Carrying too much weapon weight can slow down the very power keeping you alive. Choose Vanguard if you want to fight at close range and stay active. Learn the timing and the enemies instead of assuming Charge and Nova make you untouchable.
