Mass Effect is one of my top three game series of all time.
Between Mass Effect 1, 2, 3, and Andromeda, I probably spent somewhere around 600 hours with this series. I spent a great deal of time with all four games, but the way I approached the trilogy probably says the most about how invested I was.
I was mapping out choices in the first game, already planning for what was going to happen in the third. I had a series of what I considered to be the perfect playthrough. I wanted to think through those decisions and carry them across the whole trilogy.
It has one of the best storylines of any game series I have ever played. Some of the best characters. Some of the best voice acting. Absolutely amazing series, and one I recommend more highly than just about any other.
With EA now confirming the closure of BioWare and the end of early development on the next Mass Effect, I wanted to talk about what these games mean to me. Whatever happens to the franchise from here, the four games we already have are a huge part of my gaming history.
If you have never played Mass Effect, I strongly recommend it. Start with the first game, carry your decisions through the trilogy, and give yourself the chance to see why people got so attached to this universe.
