Spider-Man: What the DLC Actually Includes Across All Three Games
I wanted to cover this separately from the skills and suits, because buying the complete Spider-Man story can get a little confusing once you start seeing Standard, Ultimate, Deluxe and Remastered all over the place.
The order I would follow is Marvel's Spider-Man, its three City That Never Sleeps chapters, Miles Morales, then Marvel's Spider-Man 2. Remastered fills the first game's place in that order. You do not need to play the original and then play Remastered as though they are two different stories.
THE FIRST GAME: THE CITY THAT NEVER SLEEPS
This is the substantial story expansion in the trilogy. It continues after the main campaign, and its three chapters tell a connected story. Play them in order:
1. The Heist. Black Cat is the central draw here, with Peter and MJ following an art theft into the city's criminal underworld.
2. Turf Wars. Hammerhead and the Maggia conflict take over, with stolen Sable equipment making the gangs more dangerous and Yuri becoming increasingly involved.
3. Silver Lining. Silver Sable returns to recover her technology as the Hammerhead storyline reaches its conclusion.
Each chapter brings missions and side activities, new challenges and three suits to unlock. That gives you nine suits across the expansion, alongside its story and trophy content. These chapters belong after the base campaign, so I would avoid jumping into them early just because the menu lets you see them.
For editions, the original PS4 Standard game and the story DLC are separate entitlements. The PS4 Game of the Year package includes the three-chapter expansion, while Remastered on PS5 and PC includes The City That Never Sleeps. Check what you already own before buying the same content again.
There is one practical catch with older physical copies. The original GOTY package supplied its DLC through a voucher, so a used box is not proof that you are getting an unused, redeemable code. Check the actual contents and redemption terms rather than relying only on the words Game of the Year.
If you are working through the series for the story, this is the extra content I would make a point of including. It gives characters and relationships more room before you move forward. You can decide how much challenge cleanup you want to do afterward, but I would not treat the three story chapters as a random collection of unrelated side missions.
MILES MORALES: WHAT ULTIMATE MEANS
Miles Morales is a standalone game. You do not need the first game installed to play it, although I would still play the story in order.
There is no released Miles Morales story expansion listed in the official editions I checked for this guide. The important distinction is that the PS5 Ultimate Edition bundles Miles with Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered, including the first game's three DLC chapters. It does not add a secret second Miles campaign.
If you own the standard PS5 version, Insomniac documents an in-game Ultimate upgrade route for getting Remastered. Whether that is useful depends on whether you already own the first game in the form you want.
Miles also received free additions such as the Advanced Tech suit. That is a costume update, not a new story chapter. NG+ provides more progression and another run through the existing campaign; it is not paid story DLC either.
SPIDER-MAN 2: STORY DLC, DELUXE EXTRAS AND FREE UPDATES
For Spider-Man 2, the last explicit official story-content statement I verified is Insomniac's October 2024 PC announcement: it had no additional story content planned. Checking again for this guide on October 27, 2026, I did not find a newer official story-expansion announcement. I would not buy an edition expecting an extra campaign that has not been announced.
Digital Deluxe extras are a different category. They include ten exclusive suits, five for Peter and five for Miles, plus Photo Mode extras and skill-point/early-unlock benefits that depend on the platform's package. The PC Deluxe listing, for example, includes early access to the Arachknight suit, Shadow-Spider suit and Web Grabber, plus five skill points. Those early unlocks should not be confused with the ten Deluxe-exclusive costumes. None of that is an additional story campaign.
There have also been free updates. NG+, Ultimate Levels, additional suit styles and replay features do not require buying the Deluxe edition. The Fly N' Fresh pack began as a paid early-access charity offering and later became available at no additional cost, so older articles describing it only as paid DLC are out of date.
And support did not simply stop in 2024. The July 2026 PS5 update added Peter's Fresh Start suit, inspired by Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and the Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls suit. Nixxes also lists both additions for PC. Those are cosmetic additions, not evidence of an unannounced expansion.
So if you are trying to get the complete released story without buying things you do not need, check the first game's three DLC chapters first. After that, look at the edition extras based on whether you actually want those extras. I love these games, but there is no reason to buy something twice or pay for a costume package thinking it contains another chapter of the story.
