Spider-Man: New Game Plus Across All Three Games I loved these games, and I wanted to put together something useful for anybody thinking about another playthrough. New Game Plus is worth looking at before you hit New Game and throw yourself back into New York, because the three games handle the rewards a little differently. First, finish the main story, keep your completed save, and use the New Game Plus option associated with that save. A normal New Game is a fresh start. NG+ is the option that brings your developed character forward. You do not need to clear every last map icon just to replay the story, but I would finish any cleanup you care about before making the new save. That makes it easier to keep track of what you actually finished. MARVEL'S SPIDER-MAN / REMASTERED This is the original Peter Parker game. Remastered is the updated version of that same adventure, not another sequel. NG+ lets you replay the campaign and open-world activities with the suits, skills, gadgets, suit mods and benchmarks you already unlocked. The activities reset, so your upgraded Spider-Man comes back, but the new playthrough does not begin with the city already completed. NG+ and Ultimate difficulty were added to the original PS4 game in October 2018; current Remastered editions include the mode. The two relevant trophies are One More Time for completing NG+, and Power and Responsibility for completing an Ultimate-difficulty playthrough. They sit in the separate New Game+ trophy group, outside the original Platinum requirements. If you want both, an Ultimate NG+ run is the sensible way to combine those goals. Keep that run on Ultimate rather than lowering the difficulty partway through. You do not have to choose Ultimate just because you chose NG+. If your goal is enjoying the story with a full gadget collection, choose a difficulty that suits that. If you want a tougher run, the carried-over equipment gives you more ways to deal with it. I would use the early encounters to get comfortable with gadgets you barely touched the first time instead of immediately falling into the exact same routine. MILES MORALES Miles has more progression tied to a second run. NG+ carries your level, skills and skill points, gadgets and upgrades, suits and mods, Activity Tokens, Tech Parts and benchmarks. Story missions, side missions, city exploration completion and the collection inventory reset. Keep your original save if you want to preserve its completed map. The new file is its own playthrough; later changes in the original do not automatically synchronize into it. The level cap rises from 20 to 30. Three skills are reserved for NG+, one at the bottom of each main skill tree, and the last becomes purchasable at level 23. There is also the Spider-Training suit and additional NG+ upgrades to work toward. Unlike the first game's optional NG+ trophy group, Miles requires NG+ for the Platinum: Plus Plus asks you to finish it, and the full skill and suit requirements also reach into this mode. You can use an easier difficulty; an Ultimate run is not required for these trophies. That is the one I would particularly warn completionists about. If you have reached the first-run level cap and still see NG+ locks, you have not missed a hidden side quest. You need the next playthrough. I would clean up the original map first, then concentrate on the story and the remaining unlocks in NG+ rather than assuming you need to repeat every collectible hunt. MARVEL'S SPIDER-MAN 2 NG+ arrived on PS5 in the free March 7, 2024 update. Your unlocked suits and abilities carry into the replay, and the mode adds progression beyond the original level-60 cap. These are called Ultimate Levels, but that name does not mean you must play on Ultimate difficulty. The levels unlock additional styles for Peter's story symbiote suits. Two other additions are Golden Gadget Styles and Suit Tech Fusion. The golden styles change the gadgets' appearance. Fusion is the more practical upgrade to prioritize: it lets you unlock both perks in a shared Suit Tech slot instead of choosing between them. Completing the NG+ story earns an additional trophy, separate from the base Platinum. The NG+ trophy is Once More, With Feeling, and it can be earned on any difficulty. Ultimate difficulty is optional here, too. Mission Replay, post-game time-of-day selection and tendril-color settings came with that update too. Do not confuse those general replay/customization features with a requirement to finish NG+ first. If you only want to revisit a favorite mission, Mission Replay may be all you need. A full NG+ run is for starting the campaign over and working through its new progression. The PC release already included NG+ and the associated post-launch features when it arrived in January 2025. You do not need the Digital Deluxe edition to get the mode. PS5 and PC version numbers are different, so use the updates for your platform rather than looking for an identical patch number. My recommendation is pretty simple: decide whether you want the story again, the extra unlocks, or the trophy cleanup before starting. The first game gives you another run with your established toolkit. Miles puts part of its completion checklist behind NG+. Spider-Man 2 adds more progression and lets you loosen some of those Suit Tech choices. There is a reason to go back to each one, but there is no reason to turn a replay of a game you love into a chore just because the hardest setting is available.
