POST 6: The phone games Spider-Man had a whole separate history on phones, from keypad-era Java games to touch-screen action and an endless runner. These should not be confused with the console games that sometimes use the same names. Spider-Man (Indiagames) (2003) Platforms: Java/J2ME phones. An early dedicated mobile Spider-Man platformer. Spider-Man vs Doc Ock (2004) Platforms: Java/J2ME phones. Side-scrolling movie-era mobile action. Spider-Man 2 Pinball (2004) Platforms: Java/J2ME phones. Movie-themed mobile pinball, separate from the adventure adaptations. Spider-Man 2: The Hero Returns (2005) Platforms: BREW phones, Java/J2ME phones. A further mobile movie tie-in rather than the console Spider-Man 2. Ultimate Spider-Man (mobile) (2005) Platforms: BREW phones, Java/J2ME phones. Separate side-scrolling Spider-Man-versus-Venom mobile game. Spider-Man 3 (mobile action) (2007) Platforms: Java/J2ME phones, mobile phones. Mobile action tie-in developed by Javaground. Spider-Man 3 Puzzle (2007) Platforms: Java/J2ME phones. A separately released puzzle game, not the mobile action title. Spider-Man: Toxic City (2009) Platforms: Java/J2ME phones, BlackBerry. Gameloft’s mobile beat-em-up. Ultimate Spider-Man: Total Mayhem (2010) Platforms: iOS, Android. Gameloft’s standalone touch-screen combat adventure; also billed as Spider-Man: Total Mayhem. HD iPad edition appeared in 2010; Android followed. Not the 2005 Ultimate Spider-Man. The Amazing Spider-Man (Gameloft mobile) (2012) Platforms: iOS, Android, Windows Phone, Java/J2ME phones. A separate Gameloft movie adaptation for phones. Phone builds differ by hardware and are separate from Beenox’s console/PC game. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (Gameloft mobile) (2014) Platforms: iOS, Android, Windows Phone. Gameloft’s separate mobile adaptation of the second Amazing film. Spider-Man: Ultimate Power (2014) Platforms: Java/J2ME phones, BlackBerry, Android, Windows Phone. A 2D running, swinging and fighting game, not Spider-Man Unlimited. Windows Phone version followed in 2015 and was withdrawn shortly after release. Spider-Man Unlimited (2014) Platforms: iOS, Android, Windows Phone. A collectible-Spider-heroes endless runner with a large alternate-universe cast. Its official service ended March 31, 2019.
