Read the original post on X

All right I've been reading through my comics still. I spent a good bit of time. Right now I'm finishing X-Men over the next few days. I really want to get through and completely out of the Claremont era. I got a few more folders to read through and then I'll be into the new reboot, or not reboot, but basically where he took the 15 heroes and split them up into two teams. I'll probably read a little ways into that. I think by then the art is going to start improving, which I have no issue with. I've been reading art from the 1960s. If you really pay attention a lot of the art from that point until now is almost completely the same. They make some improvements over time and a couple of different series are a little bit different here and there. For the most part a lot of it's the same and looks the same. I'll probably be happy to finally be in a place where I can move on to a different art style because, again, I've been stuck in the Claremont era for 30-plus years. I know it's not just Claremont. There have been other writers involved especially with some of the other books in the X titles. For the most part it's been Claremont or the early stuff was Stan Lee and the others. I'm just looking forward to getting into a new era. Also the comics in the 60s and 70s were known to be very, very wordy. I don't mind reading wordy comics but holy shit, some of the ones back then were so thick that it's hard to keep track of. Really long-winded talking, monologues, and repeating themselves and repeating the obvious, just a lot. It was a mess. I don't speed read. I read for fun so I read to enjoy the reading and to look at the art but I still obviously want to move at a decent pace. I don't want to spend an hour on each issue. I want to move at a decent pace but I just look at how fast I move through something like Grand Fairy Tales at an absolutely astronomical rate. I mow through those at such a rapid rate it's not even funny. By the time I sit down and read two or three Clermonts, even something like Excalibur back then was so wordy. I can probably read 10 to 12 of the Grimm fairy tales as opposed to 3 of the older-school comics. Again I read pretty quick. I'm a writer and I read a lot so I have pretty quick reading. I take the time to look at the art obviously but it's just such a huge difference. I think as I get out of the early '90s and into the early to mid '90s, it's supposed to be a little less thick. I'm looking forward to seeing if my reading speed picks up enough to be making a substantial difference.
