POST 1 OF 7: THE SEQUEL DOESN'T USE THE SAME SYSTEM
After going through the original game's masks, I wanted to do the same for Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number. The important difference is that you're no longer simply choosing from Jacket's collection before most missions. You're moving between characters, and their restrictions matter as much as their strengths.
The Fans have four selectable setups: Corey, Tony, Alex and Ash together, and Mark. Jake has his three snake masks. Other characters have their own equipment or techniques, and some don't wear masks at all. You can't freely take every one of those choices into every mission.
That changes the way a room has to be approached. A floor that gives Corey several possible weapons might force Tony to work entirely around getting close. Alex and Ash combine two attack types but introduce a second firing position to think about. Mark starts with a lot of firepower, but it won't last forever.
I'm keeping the main campaign separate from the level editor here. Jacket's old masks have editor versions, sometimes with changed effects. Seeing them in a custom level doesn't mean they're normal campaign unlocks in Wrong Number.
