POST 4 OF 7: GUNS, AMMO, AND NOISE Aubrey, the pig, pushes random weapon spawns toward guns. Charlie, the octopus, does the opposite and favors melee weapons. These change the tools you find, not the basic rules for using them. Pick the one that supports the kind of route you want to practice. Charlie also isn't a reliable shortcut to every rare melee-weapon unlock or achievement. Rami, the camel, increases ammunition in supported firearms. Older versions and guides don't agree on every weapon and situation the bonus affects, so check the actual ammo counter rather than planning a route around a blanket promise. Extra ammunition is useful, but you still need a plan for when the gun is empty. Peter, the unicorn, reduces the distance at which gunshots alert enemies. Quieter is the important word. It shouldn't be treated as a guarantee that every nearby enemy will ignore a shot. This is useful when you want to deal with a smaller part of a floor instead of immediately drawing the whole place toward you. Rick, the fox, has the Good Shot perk. The original game's mechanic is commonly documented as making shots more lethal, while the sequel's editor version is described as improved accuracy. Those descriptions get mixed together in guides. I wouldn't sell it as a universal aim-assist button or a guarantee against every special enemy. Richter, the rat, starts Jacket with a silenced Uzi. It gives you a ranged opening without making the same noise as the ordinary version. The magazine is still finite. Use the starting advantage to establish a route and find the next weapon, not as a reason to stop thinking about ammunition.
