POST 9: PISTOLS AND THE QUIETER OPTIONS Silenced pistol: Available in both games, though its availability changes. The suppressed shots are useful for avoiding the attention that ordinary gunfire attracts. That does not make you invisible. An enemy who sees you still has a reason to react, and a bad position remains a bad position. Silenced Uzi: Richter's starting weapon through his mask in the first game. It combines automatic fire with a quieter approach, but the ammunition is still finite. In Wrong Number it belongs to editor equipment rather than Richter's normal campaign loadout. Don't expect the first game's mask reward to carry over into his sequel chapters. 9mm: A common handgun in Wrong Number and part of Ash's equipment. It is a practical sidearm, not a promise that every distant shot will land exactly where you wanted. Clear angles and deliberate shooting matter more than trying to force a poor shot because the target is technically visible. Nail gun: Jake's Irvin option in the sequel. It is silent and has a finite supply of ammunition. That makes it a distinct way to approach Jake's sections, but not an unlimited substitute for every other weapon. I'd treat the quiet approach as its main reason to consider it, rather than assuming a different weapon automatically makes the chapter easier. The quieter weapons are useful because they let you avoid creating one particular problem. They don't remove the rest of the game's problems for you.
