Children of Morta Character Profile: Apan
A character and strategy thread. Ability spoilers; no major story reveals.
Apan comes from the Asva tribe north of Mount Morta. She's known as the Clan Mother, with a background in healing and a willingness to fight when it is necessary. She travels south to help the Bergsons against the Corruption. She's an ally joining their struggle, rather than another relative being introduced into the family tree.
She arrived through the free Bergsons' House update. Her design combines a staff's reach with spells that interfere with enemy movement and defensive tools that help the group survive. The developers specifically described her as capable in solo play, with particular value in co-op.
That distinction matters. Calling her a support character can make people assume she's only useful when somebody else is doing the real fighting. Her toolkit gives her ways to manage a fight herself. The question is how to create the time and space to use those abilities without taking more punishment than the protection can absorb.
This thread combines documented mechanics with strategy suggestions and player feedback. Apan's community reputation is mixed, so I'm keeping the disagreement rather than pretending every guide reaches the same conclusion.
The first adjustment is to use the staff's reach. You don't need to stand directly against an enemy just because you're using a melee-looking weapon. Keep enough distance to react, hit what you can control, and move when the shape of the fight stops favoring you.
