Children of Morta Character Profile: Joey A character and strategy thread. Ability spoilers; no major story reveals. Joey is Uncle Ben's son, and the hammer gives you a pretty good first impression of his fighting style. His attacks have weight and cover an area, but he doesn't move through an attack sequence the way Kevin does. If you approach both characters with the same expectations, Joey is going to feel unnecessarily awkward. This is a compilation of his documented abilities, practical strategy, and player feedback. In Joey's case, the disagreement between players is worth keeping. Some find the slower melee style frustrating. Others build around his durability and area damage and get very strong results. Both experiences can exist without one proving the other player doesn't understand the game. His basic attack is a slow sweep in front of him. Look for chances to catch more than one enemy in that sweep. Chasing individual enemies around the edge of a room makes the slower rhythm more noticeable while wasting the area the hammer covers. That doesn't mean gather the entire map into one enormous pile. Start with a group you can read. Keep the enemies in front of the swing, leave room to reposition, and learn how much time you need before committing to another attack. Joey rewards choosing an opening. He becomes much harder to manage when you're trying to manufacture another swing after the opening has already closed.
