For a first Story build, unlocking the basic defensive and control tools is a sensible priority before trying to maximize every damage branch. A community skill-order discussion recommends spreading early investment to access useful abilities before heavily stacking additional ranks. That's a starting philosophy, not a mandatory point-by-point prescription. After that, think about which part of the kit you are actually using. Auxiliary Embers supports the sidewinder projectiles. Incendiary Shot adds a chance for enemies killed by primary attacks to explode. Those fit a primary-fire approach that spends a lot of time clearing groups. Rage has its own investment path, including improvements to the fire beam and later effects. That is why “never use Rage” is too broad. Some player discussions prefer ordinary fire and see the transformation as a poor trade for their particular setup. Other players strongly favor the upgraded Rage kit. Those accounts disagree, and they may be describing different upgrades, modes, or stages of progression. Player discussions: https://t.co/oeG7FNEPkl and https://t.co/Z6learESwN The useful question is what the transformation does for your current fight. If ordinary firing is working and you have a safe position, don't interrupt it only because the meter is full. If the situation changes, reassess instead of treating a forum opinion as a permanent ban on an ability. Also separate Lucy's own investment from family progression. In Story, leveling the wider family provides shared benefits. You don't have to abandon your preferred character to recognize that developing other family members can improve the whole roster.
