Children of Morta Character Profile: Lucy
A character and strategy thread. Ability spoilers; no major story reveals.
Lucy is John and Mary's youngest daughter, with Grandma Margareth helping her learn to control her magic. At home, she's a playful child. In combat, she becomes the family member filling the room with fire. Children of Morta puts that personality into the way she fights, and there's more to using her than holding the attack button and hoping everything dies first.
This breakdown combines the documented kit with strategy suggestions and player discussions. The player opinions are identified as opinions, because a favorite build on one difficulty isn't automatically the best build everywhere.
Lucy's ordinary fireball attack requires her to stand still. Sustained firing builds the attack up, including additional sidewinder projectiles. That's the reward for holding a position. The cost is that anything moving toward her gets closer while she does it.
A useful starting rhythm is: establish space, attack, move before the space disappears, then establish another position. Her range lets her make that decision earlier than a close-range fighter, but range doesn't help much if you back yourself into a corner.
Try to see the next firing position before leaving the current one. Running away without a destination can leave you moving constantly and accomplishing very little. Lucy wants controlled stops where she can actually use her attack, not an endless panic lap around the room.
