Family Trials is separate from Story progression. Evaluate Mark from the kit and upgrades you have in that run, rather than from a guide describing a developed campaign character. Don't assume a late skill interaction is already operating because you remember it from Story. For each new choice, ask whether it strengthens a working pattern. If the pull-and-attack setup is reliable, a relevant damage or control improvement has an obvious role. If you keep losing health while approaching, address that before building around an elaborate follow-up. When a pickup changes the way an ability behaves, take a moment to see whether the old sequence still makes sense. There are player reports of successful Trials runs with Mark alongside both Linda and Joey. That supports treating him as a viable partner, not declaring either pairing an automatic win. One setup emphasizes a ranged partner; the other uses a close-range follow-up. Communication and the run's actual upgrades are part of those results. For practice, start by checking where primary attacks move you. Next, gather a small group and use the whip without letting enemies reach your sides. Then practice leaving after a short attack window. Add the staff when you understand where the knockback sends the survivors. The mistakes to avoid are pulling more enemies than you can handle, assuming the barrier makes repeated hits harmless, and chasing a targeting problem with more attacks. Mark gives you several ways to rearrange a fight. The useful skill is recognizing when the arrangement favors you and when you need to change it again.
