Fan of Knives gives Kevin an attack in multiple directions. Shadow Cloak lets him disappear, and later shadow-based options include Execute and Shadow Dance. Those additions give him more choices than running directly at an enemy and repeating the basic attack.
The cloak deserves a plan. You can use concealment to change position and prepare an attack, but committing it offensively also means it won't immediately be there for another purpose. Before using it, check the enemies around your intended target and the ground you'll occupy afterward.
Execute and Shadow Dance are distinct follow-ups, so get used to their behavior separately. An attack intended to finish a priority enemy and an attack involving several enemies shouldn't automatically be treated as interchangeable. Read the available skill, test it in a forgiving encounter, and watch which target or targets it actually reaches.
For ordinary melee, give yourself permission to take a small opening. If a single safe hit is available, take that hit and move. You can attack again after the enemy commits to its next action. Trying to force the same long sequence against every enemy makes your timing predictable in exactly the wrong way.
Against a boss, first identify when approaching is safe. A long recovery can support a more aggressive burst. A brief pause may only allow a few attacks before you should leave. Guardian's Rage increases offensive pressure, but don't assume an offensive burst is also a defensive shield. Keep responding to the boss while it's active.
