SCP-153: Drain Worms
Object Class: Euclid
SCP-153 turns an ordinary bathroom drain into an ambush. These roundworm-like creatures live in plumbing, feeding on organic material, with a preference for animal tissue.
One moves up a shower or bathtub drain, dissolves the cover with acidic secretions, then disguises the inside of its own throat as the drain opening. When someone enters, the attack happens quickly and leaves almost nothing behind. The file withholds the exact mechanism and timing.
Their camouflage works internally and externally. Agents use infrared and ultraviolet equipment to detect them, and unexplained bathroom disappearances are investigated because wild specimens almost certainly remain.
Later incidents suggest they have expanded their attacks to sinks and toilets. Researchers are still trying to understand how creatures this simple develop these hunting methods.
Captured specimens are kept separately in acid-resistant tanks containing sewage and organic material. Those tanks must never connect to plumbing.
The Foundation also approves breeding research, including possible waste-disposal applications. A later proposal would release specimens to slow SCP-2717, but approval remains pending. The article doesn't say that release happened or proved effective.
