SCP-150: Ship of Theseus
Object Class: Keter
SCP-150 gradually eats a person and replaces what it consumes with functioning parasite tissue. The affected limb can become stronger while the person remains able to control it.
That makes the infection especially disturbing. Someone can have a chitinous arm and still feel relatively normal. Even people who understand what is happening often welcome the changes.
Eggs circulate through the bloodstream, spreading the replacement process. Once the lungs are affected, coughing helps transmit more eggs. Eventually even the spinal cord and brain are replaced. Patients are isolated in biohazard cells.
The surgical experiment takes this further. Researchers euthanize D-13732 and preserve the parasites replacing his brain.
They remove some brain parasites from D-016002, slowing her responses. Adding parasites from D-13732 restores her response speed, although some answers are wrong.
Next, they replace her entire parasite brain with D-13732's. She wakes up identifying herself as Michael, the donor's name, rather than Mako.
Her exposed brain starts moving, and portions retract when she wants to rest. She still says she's fine.
