SCP-145: Man-Absorbing Phone SCP-145 looks like an ordinary cordless phone. The charging base has been deliberately damaged, the connections are sealed, and it has no working external power source. It still rings constantly. When someone answers, a terrified woman is on the other end asking for help. The voice changes between calls, but the situation stays the same. People are being tortured somewhere, and the person listening can hear it happening. The Foundation has never managed to trace where those calls are coming from. Shielding the phone doesn't stop them either. Then there's the rule that makes answering it especially dangerous: if someone picks up without live supervision, they disappear. Recording them doesn't prevent it. The footage shows them present in one frame and gone in the next, with the phone dropping to the floor. On later calls, their voice joins the victims. The testing gets progressively worse. A tracking device stops working after its carrier vanishes. Giving another subject a knife doesn't save him. A pistol and protective vest don't solve it either; gunfire is heard over the line, followed by the subject's cries of pain. The final listed experiment tries sending an explosive through. Most of the result is withheld, but Foundation personnel go missing and containment breaches follow. Tests of that kind are suspended. It's classified Euclid and kept in a locked, soundproofed room. Researchers work in supervised teams, with direct listening restricted to D-Class personnel. The entry never explains who is behind the calls or where the victims end up. It leaves the Foundation with a phone full of people begging for help, and a series of attempts to reach them that only makes the situation worse. Original entry: https://t.co/cv54KXfGne By Cinder.
