Calesvol is another sword, and it needs to stay separate from Lysraseri.

Calesvol is another sword, and it needs to stay separate from Lysraseri. In Grimm Fairy Tales #115, Lance is drawn to it during the museum visit. Calesvol is identified as Excalibur's twin and the famous sword in the stone. It becomes one with its bearer, but it also has a mind of its own. That becomes a serious problem for Lance. The sword controls him, and striking it only feeds the danger because it absorbs what hits it. Separating him from the weapon is what breaks that immediate situation. Skye does it by severing his sword arm, which then regrows. Putting the sword back where it came from isn't an easy reset. Once it has been removed, it can't simply be returned to the stone. The faculty secure it instead, and the curse is unfamiliar even to Shang and Sela. Calesvol gives us an artifact whose danger includes its relationship with the person holding it. Being able to claim a weapon does not mean that person controls it.
