SCP-134 is a blind girl whose eyes let other people look into deep space. She still needs someone to tell her when they've moved something in her room.
Her eye sockets appear black in ordinary light. Long exposures reveal stars and galaxies. The distant ends of those openings seem to move at twenty to forty times light speed, independently of her movements. They also shift locations at irregular intervals. None of the astronomical formations has been identified.
The measurements are extraordinary, but the person they're measuring is a child. She eats, sleeps, learns, and has preferences about her belongings. Her furnished room includes Braille labels and books, toys, and a craft station. Staff must prepare her for additions to the room because she navigates from memory. She even prefers a particular printed bed set because she can feel its pattern.
A development specialist names her Stella. She associates her SCP number with physical testing and becomes upset when people who called her Stella switch to the number. The Foundation's response is to discourage using her name unless staff intend to limit themselves to interviews. She entered custody from an orphanage in Yokohama.
That instruction about her name is the uncomfortable part. She has learned that a change in how an adult addresses her means a change in what they're about to do. The response makes the adults' work easier without resolving why the interaction upsets her.
The astronomical measurements and the bedroom inventory belong to the same file. One describes something unprecedented; the other describes a child who needs education, familiar surroundings, and considerate treatment. The first doesn't make the second less important.
