Marvel movies only — 3/3
1. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018); animated theatrical feature: Start Miles’s animated story here. [4]
2. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (2023); animated theatrical feature: Continue Miles’s story after Into the Spider-Verse. [4]
Sony Venom
1. Venom (2018); feature: Eddie and the symbiote start their own story here. [4]
2. Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021); feature: This follows Eddie’s first movie; the credits touch the MCU crossover. [4]
3. Venom: The Last Dance (2024); feature: Finish Eddie’s trilogy after the No Way Home crossover material. [10] [4]
Sony adjacent standalone
These origins are kept separate rather than forced into a single Spider-Man timeline. Madame Web’s main story is set in 2003, but that does not establish a link to another Peter Parker.
1. Morbius (2022); feature: Treat this as its own Sony origin, with crossover-credit complications. [4]
2. Kraven the Hunter (2024); feature: This is a separate Sony character origin rather than a required Venom chapter. [4]
3. Madame Web (2024); feature: The main story is set in 2003, but do not force it into another Spider-Man timeline. [4]
Special presentations and narrative shorts
These are optional format-boundary additions, not extra theatrical feature films and not a serialized-TV watch order.
MCU special presentation
The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special (2022-11-25); TV special presentation: Put this between Love and Thunder and Guardians Vol. 3. [4] [2]
Werewolf by Night (2022-10-07); TV special presentation: This opens the MCU’s monster corner; its exact year is not essential to the film order. [4] [2]
The Punisher: One Last Kill (2026-05-12); TV special presentation: Put this with the Daredevil: Born Again-era Frank Castle material before Brand New Day. [11]
Toei Spider Man
Spider-Man (1978); theatrical short: The short theatrical film belongs between episodes 10 and 11 of the Japanese series. [4]
Spider Verse companion shorts
Spider-Ham: Caught in a Ham (2019); animated short: Watch as an optional Spider-Ham companion after Into the Spider-Verse rather than a required chapter of Miles’s story. [12] [13]
The Spider Within: A Spider-Verse Story (2023 festival premiere; 2024 public digital release); animated short: Place this Miles-focused side story between Into the Spider-Verse and Across the Spider-Verse for a practical viewing route, not an exact in-world date. [12] [14]
Publisher history boundary cases
These optional entries explain the publishing-history edge of the list. They are outside the core Marvel adaptation count and do not belong to MCU chronology.
Argylle (2024); feature: Keep this as optional Kingsman-adjacent viewing, not a direct Marvel-comic adaptation. [15]
Red Sonja (1985); feature: This is a separate fantasy continuity for a character whose comics incarnation began at Marvel. [16]
Red Sonja (2025-08-13); feature: The new film is a separate adaptation, not a sequel to the 1985 version. [17] [18]
Editions and release exclusions
Avengers Endgame: Encore (2026-09-25); alternate theatrical edition: This is the 2026 presentation of Endgame with added material; keep it beside the original, not as a second Endgame event. [19] [20]
• Once Upon a Deadpool, Logan Noir, Werewolf by Night in Color, The Rogue Cut, Spider-Man 2.1, No Way Home The More Fun Stuff Version and other extended or director editions are versions, not additional chronological adventures. Every territory and home-video cut is not separately inventoried.
• The Fantastic Four (1994) was never officially released; bootlegs do not qualify it for this released watch order. Avengers Doomsday and Beyond the Spider-Verse are future entries at this cutoff.
• A film does not become a Marvel adaptation merely because Marvel published a comic adaptation or license. Star Wars and the literary Conan film franchise are not swept into the core list.
• Fan films, unauthorized productions, commercials, attraction footage and making-of films are outside the narrative-movie scope. The Malibu shorts Firearm and Hardcase remain outside this bounded inventory pending a dedicated archival short-film release audit.
Coverage and source notes
Movie identities and years were checked against broad filmographies, with selected studio and current-release checks. Most archival non-MCU dates remain year-only. Credited film year, festival premiere, television debut and a country’s theatrical or video opening can differ; exact worldwide first-release dates have not been independently audited title by title.
Disney’s regional MCU timeline is a relative-order reference, not a complete rights catalogue. Modern whole-film placements and neighboring post-Endgame stories sometimes remain editorial; they are not a newly verified day-by-day official chronology.
This movies-only guide does not insert serialized television seasons. The combined guide contains One-Shots, short specials, LEGO and Rising follow-ons, webseries and historical television. The film-only route identifies TV dependencies without claiming that the films supply every introduction.
Dated changelog
• 2026-10-26 Eastern, version 1.0: Separated the 38-film MCU phase index from story-first viewing, with independent Supplemental Viewing lanes for other continuities.
• 2026-10-26 Eastern: Included the released Brand New Day and Punisher Special Presentation; treated Endgame Encore as an edition, not a new story.
• 2026-10-26 Eastern: Preserved historical TV films, compilations, animation and imprint adaptations; labeled Argylle and Red Sonja as scope boundaries and recorded archival date limits.
• 2026-10-26 Eastern: Added Spider-Ham Caught in a Ham and The Spider Within as supplemental narrative shorts, distinguishing festival and public digital dates.
• 2026-10-26 Eastern: Corrected the Bixby Hulk route so the original 1977 pilot precedes Return of the Incredible Hulk.
• For a later revision, record the date, title, old and new placement, reason and evidence.
