UNLEASHED Spoiler warning: I’m keeping this to the setup and chapter order. No ending reveals, later Wonderland developments, or Grimm Fairy Tales Volume 2 spoilers. Unleashed brings the monster-hunting side of the Grimm Universe into the main story. Sela's world now shares space with a group of hunters and separate vampire, werewolf, zombie and demon stories. Liesel Van Helsing is introduced in this period; Zenescope identifies Unleashed #0 as her first appearance. [Zenescope's Van Helsing retrospective](https://t.co/HBjzSHS93s) WHAT CHANGES There are two things to keep straight: the numbered event and the hunter miniseries around it. The numbered event runs from #0 through part 6, but only #0 and #1 are published under the plain Unleashed title. The remaining chapters are spread across GFT, an Annual, Grimm Universe and two specials. The miniseries give the hunters and their enemies more room. They are worth including if this is the side of the universe you want to follow, but you can read the core event without treating every tie-in as compulsory. Co-writer Pat Shand described the core event and five tie-in series separately, with the individual books intended to work on their own merits. [Pat Shand on the event's structure](https://t.co/5pT3Ail8am) READ ORDER: CORE EVENT Finish GFT #84 first. Godstorm #0–4 is the recommended lead-in. 1. Optional opening short: “A Shadow Falls.” It is included in Unleashed Volume 1; a separate Best of Zenescope issue is not needed to read it. 2. Unleashed #0: The Game. 3. Unleashed #1: Day Breaks. 4. GFT #85, which is Unleashed part 2. 5. GFT 2013 Annual, Unleashed part 3. 6. Grimm Universe #5, Unleashed part 4. 7. GFT 2013 Special Edition: Night Falls, Unleashed part 5. 8. GFT Giant-Size 2013, Unleashed part 6. 9. Resume the main series with GFT #86. The part numbers, rather than the changing series names, establish the core order. [Core issues and continuation note](https://t.co/KfC3ecYxEM), [Event chapter map](https://t.co/f2HJRLmRCF) READ ORDER: WITH THE HUNTERS AND MONSTER TIE-INS For a fuller read, I’d use this arrangement. It keeps each short miniseries intact instead of reproducing the monthly release schedule. The tie-in placements are a reading recommendation; the numbered core chapters above are the fixed backbone. 1. Godstorm #0–4, if not already read. 2. “A Shadow Falls,” then Unleashed #0. 3. Hunters: The Shadowlands #1–5. Recommended background. Read all five together here. 4. Optional: Realm Knights One-Shot (2013). Skip it here if already read on Robyn's branch. 5. Optional: Werewolves: The Hunger #1–3. 6. Unleashed #1. 7. Optional: Zombies: The Cursed #1–3. 8. GFT #85 / Unleashed part 2. 9. Optional: Demons: The Unseen #1–3. 10. GFT 2013 Annual / part 3. 11. Grimm Universe #5 / part 4. 12. Optional: Vampires: The Eternal #1–3. 13. GFT 2013 Special Edition / part 5. 14. GFT Giant-Size 2013 / part 6. This is the grouped route used by the cross-title checklist. [Story-first checklist](https://t.co/PAymZ2Uhne) TRADE ROUTE AND DUPLICATES The easiest core-only route is Unleashed Volume 1 → Volume 2. • Volume 1 contains event #0–3 and “A Shadow Falls.” That includes GFT #85 and the 2013 Annual. [Volume 1 contents](https://t.co/Dh8WQhT2xE) • Volume 2 contains parts 4–6: Grimm Universe #5, the Special Edition and the Giant-Size finale. [Publisher's Volume 2 listing](https://t.co/4zQsNgGYds) • Hunters: The Shadowlands collects Hunters #1–5. Vampires & Werewolves collects the two three-issue series. Zombies & Demons collects those two three-issue series. These are tie-in collections, not three more chapters after Volume 2. Some digital storefronts label them Unleashed Volumes 3, 4 and 5, which is shelving rather than story chronology. [Digital series listing](https://t.co/v8pUhkmdtK), [Publisher's Zombies & Demons contents](https://t.co/IT7EqZAbMc) For the expanded route, use the singles at the insertion points or stop the core trades at the chapter headings. Reading Volume 1, Volume 2 and then all three tie-in trades is convenient, but it turns the tie-ins into a look back. WHAT DOES NOT BELONG IN THIS EVENT Wonderland #1–10 is a separate reading lane. Follow its sequence from the previous guide. Those ten issues are not Unleashed tie-ins. Later specials that reuse these characters are not part of this 2013 event. Cover galleries and variant-cover collections also do not replace a story chapter. The event ends with Giant-Size 2013. GFT #85 on its own is only the second chapter, so finishing that issue is not the point to move on to the next era.
