11/12 Warlock is one of the clearest examples of Hodge wanting something for himself while treating everybody else as disposable. In New Mutants #95, he wants Warlock's shapeshifting ability so he can change his own situation. Warlock is already badly depleted, and he spends more of what he has left helping his friends. Rahne goes back for him and interrupts Hodge's attempt, but she can't save Warlock. He dies and is reduced to ashes. Hodge's response is focused on what he's lost access to and how much he can hurt Rahne over it. The person dying in front of him barely matters to him beyond what he wanted to take. It's the same behavior on a much uglier scale: he decides he has a use for somebody, tries to take it, and makes them suffer. The Right's treatment of Rictor, his bargain involving children, and what he does here all fit that pattern.
