9/12 X-Factor #34 brings his conflict with Warren to the point where Hodge murders Candy Southern and Warren cuts his head off. That's essential to Hodge's history, even though Candy and Warren deserve more space than being reduced to what happens in his story. Candy is somebody whose life he destroys while trying to hurt Warren, and the cruelty is deliberate. The decapitation looks like the end of him, but the bargain with N'astirh means it doesn't work that way. By X-Tinction Agenda, his surviving head has been attached to a huge mechanical body. So when he returns, this isn't simply somebody else putting on his armor. It's Hodge, still carrying the same hatred and the same personal obsession, with a body built to do an enormous amount of damage. The change in his appearance is extreme. His reasons for going after these people haven't improved at all.
