8/14 Storm has her own nightmare to work through in #165. She knows what is growing inside her and struggles with what killing it means to her beliefs about life. The transformation begins before she has found an answer she can live with. She eventually channels an enormous amount of energy through herself, destroying the embryo and her shuttle. That leaves her dying in space until an Acanti saves her, and she becomes linked with it. The Acanti are enormous space-dwelling beings the Brood exploit as living ships. That takes the Brood's treatment of other species to another level. Even their transportation involves taking a living creature and using its body for their purposes. Storm's connection with the Acanti brings their suffering into the story directly. Getting the X-Men out alive is still urgent, but there are other victims here whose lives have been taken over on a much larger scale.
