4/14 Uncanny X-Men #162 is the Wolverine issue I keep coming back to. Logan finds out that a Brood embryo is growing inside him, and the other X-Men have been implanted too. He sees what happens to Fang, which gives him a pretty clear idea of what is waiting for them. The transformation starts happening to Logan. His body is being changed, and the thing inside him is fighting for his mind as well. He has to hold on to who he is while his healing factor fights the embryo. And his body actually kills it. That's the part I was talking about. The parasite was already inside him. The process had already started. He survived that and fought it out of himself. Saying he simply avoided getting infected would undersell what happened, because he had already been infected. His healing factor overcame it after the Brood had gotten that far.
