9/15 I also don't want to act like the original Betsy was always gentle and the Hand invented every aggressive thing about her. She already wanted to be a warrior. That desire comes up well before the transformation, including the temptation in the Horde annual. That's part of what makes the original version worth following. She wants more ability to protect herself and handle a fight. There are things about her physical limitations that frustrate her. But we get to see her dealing with that while she's still the Betsy I preferred. By the Australia period she has the armored costume. In the Brood fight, that armor protects her when Colossus gets thrown into her and they both go through a wall. She still has to figure out what's happening with her telepathy, and she can still miss something. She's useful without knowing everything or being able to withstand everything. I would have liked to keep seeing where that went. Better protection, more experience, different ways of fighting, without changing her into such a different version of herself. (X-Men Annual #11; Uncanny X-Men #232.)
