5/15 Then Slaymaster blinds her. She goes into a trap involving Vixen, and the fight ends with him taking her sight. Brian comes to her aid and kills him, but that doesn't undo what happened to Betsy. Afterward she has to live without her vision and use her psychic abilities to help her deal with the world. This is one of those parts of her history that gets lost when everything is reduced to the ninja version. She'd already been through a lot. Her confidence, the things she wanted to do, and the danger of trying to do them were already being worked through in the stories. I wanted to read all of that. Her losing her vision, how she kept going, what happened before she ever became an X-Man. That's part of why I have such a special place for the original Betsy. I spent time following that character before getting to the version most people recognize. (Captain Britain, 1985 series, #13–14.)
