SCP-122 is a star-shaped nightlight that makes people feel safe. A little girl has to stay in the room with it for that to work. It needs a child under fourteen who believes in a traditional Abrahamic religion. The current child is seven-year-old Anna Talinn. The calming effect reaches roughly twenty kilometers, and the Foundation uses it to help staff at Site-135. Anna dreams about an angel. First it's beside the door. Later it's at her bed. Then she thinks it wants to hug her. The fuller records measure its approach: six meters, two meters, six centimeters. Meanwhile, the light keeps flickering and dimming. Anna thinks this thing is there to protect her. The people keeping her there have considerably more information than she does. An earlier child, Janna Marston, was lost during a blackout. They installed backup power afterward and brought in Anna. Now the light is deteriorating, and replacement components aren't manufactured anymore. The ending reports another blackout. The final caption says, "HE TELLS ME TO PRAY." We don't get a complete explanation of what happens next. We don't need to invent one, either. They already lost one child, kept using the light, and watched the same threat get closer to another. The whole site gets to feel safer. She's the one left in the room. https://t.co/w6gSNIsMTc
