Uncanny #185 is another important part of Rogue becoming a member of this team. Storm follows her and tries to help her deal with what her powers mean for her life. For a little while Rogue gets to experience Storm's abilities. Flight is familiar, but Ororo's connection to the weather gives her something different. Storm is trying to share that with her and give her some help instead of treating her as a problem to manage. Then the government agents arrive with Forge's neutralizer, and Storm takes the shot meant for Rogue. Ororo loses her powers. Rogue has already hurt people with her own abilities. Now somebody trying to protect her has paid a serious price too. You can see why guilt is such a recurring problem for her. Even when she wants to do the right thing, she can't control what everybody around her is going to do. Storm's decision makes it clear that Rogue is one of them now. Her teammates will put themselves at risk for her.
