Then Kitty sees the X-Men apparently die in Dallas. Doug has been killed too. She's recovering from an injury that nearly killed her and losing people she expected to come home to. Rachel's return and the trouble following her bring Kitty and Kurt together with Captain Britain and Meggan. They form Excalibur, with Lockheed alongside them, and keep doing the work even though the team they knew appears to be gone. England gives Kitty a different group to live with. There's the lighthouse, the strange trips through other realities and eventually the attempt to get an ordinary education into her life again. She still has school to think about while everybody around her keeps stumbling into another emergency. There's been a lot between the girl who fell through her bedroom floor and the Kitty in Excalibur. She has fought on her own, had her heart broken, learned from Wolverine, nearly lost her body and lost friends. And she still wants to learn, have a life and help the people around her.
