In the first X-Men, Logan accidentally stabs Rogue when she wakes him from a nightmare. She touches him and takes his healing ability, saving herself while leaving him in bad shape. At the Statue of Liberty, he deliberately lets her do it again because she's dying. His wounds reopen as she recovers, and he collapses. So the film establishes that his power can save somebody else through Rogue's absorption. It also establishes that he pays for that transfer. He isn't standing there with an unlimited supply that she can borrow without affecting him. And the injury happens in the first place because Logan is having a nightmare. His body can repair damage while his memories and reactions remain a serious problem. Even this early, physical healing doesn't mean the rest of him is okay.
