Tyger Tiger is the big example. Logan recognizes her as Jessan Hoan, the woman the X-Men encountered during the Reavers story. What happened to her hasn't simply disappeared now that she's away from them. She's become involved in Madripoor's underworld and wants Roche out. Logan gets dragged into helping someone whose answer to a crime boss includes taking over his position. By the end of "Save the Tiger," he's staying around to keep an eye on what she does with that power. That is a continuing responsibility. Getting Roche out of the way doesn't automatically make Tyger's decisions good ones. It gives them a relationship with something to argue about. Logan can care about what happened to her and still object to what she's doing now.
