Karma's story keeps going after she leaves New Mutants. The Wolverine issues matter if you're following what actually happens to her. In the Lazarus Project storyline, Wolverine #27-30, she sees more of the damage caused by the people her uncle is involved with. She tries to save children in Rumika and can't save them all. Given why she's even in Madripoor, that's particularly brutal. By #30, she's had enough of Coy treating his help as a debt that lets him control her. She stops Wolverine from killing him, but that isn't forgiveness. She tells Coy that their debts are settled and makes it clear she can use her own power against him if he keeps hurting innocent people. She still hasn't found Leong and Nga at this point. There isn't a neat ending where doing the right thing immediately gets her family back. But she has drawn a line with the man using their disappearance to keep a hold on her. She's spent most of this run being responsible for other people, getting exploited because of it, and trying to find a way to help them without giving up control of her own life again.
