Rahne's part in Inferno says a lot about how far she's come with Illyana. She has plenty of reasons to be afraid of Limbo. She goes back into it anyway because she can't stop thinking about the little girl they saw trapped there. In New Mutants #73, she's willing to go after that child even when the others warn her about getting lost in time. Earlier Rahne could barely get past the demons and the sorcery. Here she's looking at what happened to Illyana and trying to save her. She doesn't have to stop being frightened to do it. The team keeps changing around her afterward. Dani's decision to stay in Asgard hurts, and Rahne grows closer to Rictor. There's affection there, including a kiss, rather than just another teammate standing beside her in a fight. She's building relationships of her own and making decisions of her own. That's important for somebody who began with an adult telling her that even being herself was wrong.
