Dani stays in Asgard when the others leave in New Mutants #87.

Dani stays in Asgard when the others leave in New Mutants #87. She wants to help put right the damage Hela did in the Valkyries' name. Her friends are going home, and she's choosing to remain behind because she believes there's work she needs to do there. That's a substantial change from the girl who didn't want Black Eagle arranging any part of her future. By this point she's making a decision that separates her from the people she's been leading and living with for most of the series. It also means she's gone when Cable starts becoming central to the team. The New Mutants who return to Earth aren't bringing both of their long-standing leaders back with them. Dani is now in Asgard, with Brightwind and her Valkyrie responsibilities. She's still one of the original New Mutants, but she has chosen something that takes her away from the school and the team for now.
