The later Asgard material takes the Valkyrie connection somewhere much uglier. Hela's control reaches Dani, and her friends are dealing with somebody they know and trust being turned against them. The Valkyries and their connection to death aren't just an impressive addition to her costume. There are powers involved that can take away her ability to choose what she's doing. Dani fights back from inside it. By this stage she can give an image physical substance, and she creates an ice-making machine to trap herself and Brightwind. She's still burning hot enough that the machine has to keep replacing the ice. In #78, the others are trying to move her to safety when Freedom Force makes the situation worse. Doctor Strange eventually sends them to Asgard. Dani's friends aren't just trying to defeat someone attacking them. They're trying to get their friend back. By the end of the Asgard conflict, getting free of Hela doesn't mean Dani feels finished with the place or with what happened there.
