Pairing him with Forge for the search for the missing X-Men gives Sean something useful to do beyond standing around waiting for everybody else to come home.

Pairing him with Forge for the search for the missing X-Men gives Sean something useful to do beyond standing around waiting for everybody else to come home. The team has scattered, and finding people isn't as simple as calling the mansion. These two have to follow leads and deal with what they find. Masque adds a particularly nasty complication by taking away Sean's mouth. For a character who already spent years unable to use his voice properly, that's a cruel way to disable him again. Forge helps undo it, but the immediate problem isn't abstract. Sean needs his mouth to speak, eat, and use the ability that makes him Banshee. When somebody attacks the physical part he needs to use his power, the damage reaches into ordinary life too.
