X-Men Annual #10 brings him into the team's life with Mojo involved again. The X-Men are being manipulated and turned into children, the New Mutants get pulled in, and Longshot ends up staying with the group. He doesn't arrive with a complete understanding of the world or even himself. That can make him seem naive around people who have spent years dealing with betrayal, but it also means he doesn't approach every person as another potential enemy. By the Fall of the Mutants, he's part of the team making that sacrifice in Dallas. He comes back with them and moves into the Australian base. So this isn't somebody who just stands around being lucky while the other X-Men do the difficult part. He's in it with them. He can be confused about ordinary things and still be willing to put himself on the line when it matters.
