The Sentinel story gives him the Havok identity in #58, including that black costume with the circles across his chest. The costume makes sense for somebody frightened of how much energy he's holding. His powers need monitoring, and he isn't comfortable treating a massive plasma discharge like an ordinary tool. He also meets Lorna during this mess. Their relationship develops out of two people who have both had their lives interrupted by powers and people trying to control them. It's worth keeping the brothers' abilities straight. Alex produces plasma; Scott's optic blasts are concussive force. Their immunity to each other's direct blasts creates some unusual fights, but it doesn't make their powers interchangeable. And sharing a surname doesn't give Alex Scott's confidence in being an X-Man.
