2/8 Books such as Quest and Code Red are part of the buildup, along with the Dark Queen and Dark One specials. They don't all tell the same kind of story, but they give the coming conflict more people and more history than a sudden invasion would have. The main Grimm Fairy Tales series is doing some of that work too. Lucinda recruits the Tooth Fairy and brings Helios under her control. When those characters become part of her forces, they haven't just appeared because the anniversary issue needs a bigger army. Sela can't be everywhere at once, and neither can the Realm Knights. While one group is dealing with the danger in front of it, something else is going wrong somewhere else. By the time the Queen is ready, she has more available to her than the heroes can handle in a single confrontation. That's how this stretch builds toward #100. The threat keeps growing across the books, and the people trying to stop it are already being worn down before they reach the final approach.
