“Night Falls” pulls the earlier stories into one battle. The Being uses Ilys against Sela, threatening her daughter to force her cooperation with his plan for the Shadowlands. Sela has everyone depending on her, and he has her child. He knows exactly where to put the pressure.
The danger inside her own group arrives at the same time. Roman shoots Belinda, exposing his allegiance to Samira, and becomes Leviathan. The hunter who has been fighting monsters accepts a monstrous transformation himself. He blames the others for leaving him alone in the Shadowlands. Samira offers to take his pain away, and he wants it badly enough to turn on them.
Elijah is killed by the Being. The dragon he freed recognizes him and attacks his killer. The comic even returns to the moment Elijah let it out of its chains. He helped it without asking for anything back. Now it fights for him, but too late to save him.
Sela is also drawn into the Being's plan to destroy the Shadowlands. Its dark energy enters her, making her the vessel for something she cannot control. Belinda, Masumi and Ilys help bring her back, and that energy eventually finds Jackie. They save Sela, but that power is still loose.
Belinda's staff proves to belong to the Being, which explains why the apparent victory over him was no guarantee of safety. She can still choose to help Sela, but she cannot rely on that weapon to give her control of the confrontation.
Then the Being goes after the Maker and kills him. Innocence has been helping the Being. The Maker has been betrayed by one of his own Keepers.
Sela has been watching Belinda for signs of betrayal, and Belinda is one of the people helping her survive. Roman is the one who turns on them. Above them, Innocence turns on the Maker.
By the time the fighting stops, Elijah is dead, Roman is with Samira, Sela has barely survived, and the Maker is gone. The Being is ready to explain what all of it was for.
