After Heather's death, Zeus wants the gods off Earth. Another one of them dying could give the Being more power, so he calls for a retreat to Myst. Athena and Perseus do not simply accept that everyone should leave. The people on Earth still have monsters coming at them.
But Zeus has already seen what happened when they tried to stop the Being directly. He is trying to keep another god from becoming fuel for the next attack.
Hades complicates that retreat through his desire to recover his daughter, Angelica. Pandora's box becomes part of his plan, but it falls into the Being's hands. Hades is trying to get his daughter back, and the Being takes advantage of it. By the time the gods leave, he has already gained more power.
Grimm Universe #5 goes further back, to the Maker creating the Being and imprisoning him in the Shadowlands. The creature tearing through everyone is the Maker's own creation. The prison the Hunters have suffered in is part of that history too.
The Maker finally confronts his creation, but that confrontation does not end the danger. The failure forces the heroes back onto the resources they already have, including Belinda and her staff. When she brings the Being down, it looks as though the fight may finally have turned.
Except the monsters are still coming, and Shang is still missing. Belinda has landed the blow everyone needed, but nothing around them looks settled.
The Being also has something to use against the Maker besides power. People have been suffering while the Keepers watched. The gods have now fled. He can point to all of that and promise to do better, even while he is responsible for the slaughter happening right in front of them. By the end of Unleashed, some people are willing to hear him out.
