2/8 Unleashed #0 starts with the Being grabbing Cindy and telling her about the Hunters. He wants her to carry a warning back to the Dark One. Cindy is used to having a very powerful boss behind her, but that does not impress this thing at all. The story he tells takes us back to the Hunters' attempt to get these monsters off Earth. Sela, Liesel Van Helsing, Roman Asher, Masumi Yamamoto and Elijah Jones confront the creatures together. Shang supplies the means to open a passage into the Shadowlands. Sela is prepared to stay behind if that is what the job requires, but the others keep defending her instead of abandoning her. The monsters are drawn into the prison realm, and so are the Hunters. Hunters: The Shadowlands picks up the consequences of that decision. The group is separated, the surroundings are hostile, and time in this place has worn Roman down. His protected cabin offers safety, but he is reluctant to share it. Samira and Ravenous are working toward a different escape, awakening the Being and helping him obtain the power he needs. Prometheus is killed as part of that effort. While they are trying to survive, Elijah finds a dragon in chains and frees it. The creature could kill him. He lets it go anyway. Elijah knows what it means to live in chains, and he is not willing to leave another creature that way just because helping it is dangerous. Remember that dragon when the main event reaches its big fight. The escape itself leaves unfinished business. Sela and the Being reach Earth, while Liesel, Masumi, Elijah and Roman remain behind. Roman's dealings with Samira also carry forward into the main event. Getting the door open has not reunited everyone or settled who can be trusted. Sela goes back to her life on Earth. The other four are still stuck in the place she escaped, and Roman is already making choices the others will have to live with. When they finally see each other again, they cannot just pick up where they left off.
