6/6

6/6 Mercy remembers the blind man's watch and offers to stay in Grace's place. She also pushes Belia on the forgiveness she's waiting for. Belia can help someone else find redemption now, if she chooses to. She agrees to the bargain. Grace and the rescued man leave on a train, and Mercy stays behind. That brings us back to what happened with Trisha. Mercy's revenge had put an innocent child in danger because of what someone else did. Here, she takes the cost herself so her sister can leave. All the fighting got her to Belia, but freeing Grace comes down to what Mercy is willing to give up. The arrangement doesn't end there. The closing return to Earth shows Mercy killing again after the bargain that freed Grace. She hasn't simply gone back to her old life, and she isn't free of the Inferno. She gets her sister out and completes the rescue, but her deal with Belia leaves her with an obligation that continues past the end of this story.
