THE DREAM EATER SAGA • 9/10

THE DREAM EATER SAGA • 9/10 Ever After brings everyone together. Sela and Belinda arrive with the Dark One as bait. Baba's group is waiting. Cindy, Morrigan, Fenton, and the Dark One's other followers come to get him back. Then the Dream Eater shows up. There are several sides fighting here, and nobody has forgotten their old grudges. Baba makes her move against the Dark One, revealing just how much of her involvement has been about reaching him. Fenton takes the fatal blow meant for his master. Pan's deal doesn't protect him either. He's spent all this time trying to get something out of the crisis, but the Dream Eater turns on him during the fight. Pots summons the djinn from his lamp to take it on. The djinn is his father, so this costs him more than losing a powerful ally. When his father is killed, Pots is dying too. The fight gives Sela the opening she needs to seal the Dream Eater inside its containment vessel. Before Pots dies, he uses his final wish to return everything to its proper place. The characters who have been pulled across worlds and time periods are sent back where they belong. Sela contains the Dream Eater; Pots's wish sends everyone home. The wish doesn't erase everything that happened or heal every wound. They've stopped the rampage, but they don't all get to walk away from what it took to do that. Belinda was mortally wounded protecting Pots. When she and Sela arrive back in Myst, she's still dying.
