THE DREAM EATER SAGA • 4/10 The Wonderland chapter catches up with Calie and Violet Liddle, who are still trying to have a life outside of everything Wonderland has put them through. The Cheshire Cat escapes and goes after Calie through her daughter. He attacks Violet's school, trapping students inside. Calie has already dealt with him in Wonderland. Now he's brought that danger into a place where her daughter should have been safe. Getting out of Wonderland hasn't let Calie leave it behind. She's still dealing with what happened to her, and she's afraid Violet will get pulled into it too. The Cat knows exactly where to hurt her. Then the Dream Eater arrives and devours him. Calie and Violet get out alive. For them, in that moment, its arrival is a rescue. The thing trying to kill them is gone because something even stronger showed up and ate it. Several of the Dream Eater's early victims are monsters, so it's easy to see why someone it has just saved might not immediately recognize another threat. But Calie doesn't control this creature, and it isn't working from a list of people she wants gone. The other chapters are already showing how far its hunt can go. Taking out the Cheshire Cat so easily should be worrying even when you're glad he's out of your way. Calie and Violet's part stays focused on surviving the attack. They don't suddenly drop everything and join a team for the final battle. They need to get out of the school alive, and the crossover leaves room for that to be their priority.
